FAFSA Functionality in 3 Phases
Normal processing times are expected to return after the launch of the new 2024-2025 FAFSA.
After the initial launch of the 2024-2025 FAFSA, we will return to normal processing timelines (i.e., the FAFSA will be available October 1, ISIRs within 3 to 5 days and the ability to make corrections available within 24 hours of submitting the FAFSA.)
FAFSA functionality for 2024-2025 is being launched in three phases:
1. Students, spouses and/or parents should be able to complete the FAFSA form by December 31.
2. Colleges should be receiving 2024-2025 ISIRs and should be able to make corrections by the end of January 2024. Students will be able to make corrections at that time, and institutions will be able to make corrections a few weeks later.
3. In the 2025-2026 award year, links will be available to export FAFSA data to certain state financial aid applications, and unpaid preparers will be able to complete a FAFSA on behalf of a student.
In the FSA Help Center, Contact Customer Support, the 2024-2025 FAFSA will have its own line in the drop-down menu of topics.
In the Knowledge Center on FSA Partner Connect, Featured Information includes FAFSA Simplification Information. This provides resources related to the 2024-2025 FAFSA. The Department of Education plans to host webinars and Q&As and post those to this page.
